MSI B760M MAG Mortar motherboards support Intel 12th Gen Core non-K series BCLK overclocking

According to hardware leaker ‘chi11eddog’, MSI B760M Max Mortar series are to feature built-in clock generator that enables partial overclocking of Intel Core non-K CPU series.

Only a handful of mid-range boards have built-in clock generators. This allows users to adjust BCLK of their Intel CPUs that do not support a traditional method of overclocking. It is now confirmed that MSI’s upcoming B760M Mortar Max series are said to feature Renesas RC26008 clock generator.

This overclocking method was demonstrated on Intel i5-12400 processor which is successfully running at 5.0 GHz after modifying the BCLK clock to 125 MHz:

The same leaker had already revealed MSRPs for all upcoming MSI B760 motherboard series. All Mortar boards are to be Micro-ATX form factor, but they will come with optional Wi-Fi or DDR5 memory support. The Max series may be the only variant that supports BCLK OC, which would appear to be $20-30 premium feature.

The MSI B760 series are to launch on January 3rd alongside Intel 13th Gen Core non-K series. Although these CPUs will use lower base power (65W), they can still be forced to use turbo boost power for a prolonged period of time. However, unlike the BCLK overclocking option, this method does not guarantee higher than stock clocks.
