How do I claim my free domain name?
Before you get started, please note that this offer is only available to new customers of VentraIP and is limited to one free domain name per account. A Fair Use policy also applies.
Follow these simple steps, and your new domain name should be registered and ready to use within minutes:
- Check your eligibility to register an Australian domain name below. Having this information handy will speed up the process and avoid delays.
- Go to our website and perform a domain search to see if it’s available. When you find a name that you like and it is available, select ‘Register’ and click the purple ‘Continue’ button.
- Complete the eligibility information, then click the purple ‘Proceed to Cart’ button.
- Enter the coupon code “FREEAU”, then click the Purple ‘Apply’ button and watch your total due today change to $0.00. Then click the yellow ‘Proceed to Secure Checkout’ button.
- Complete the account details form. Click the box once you have read our Terms, Policies & Agreements, then click the purple ‘Complete Order’ button.
- That’s it! Keep an eye on your emails for confirmation that your new domain name has been registered. If there was a problem with your domain name we will let you know by email as soon as possible.

What can I do with my free domain name?
Your domain name is your web address and is the representation of your brand or idea online.
We provide a number of free services with every domain name that will allow you to use it straight away without needing to buy anything else.
- Email Forwarding – Automatically forwards email sent to anyname@yourfreedomain.com.au to another email address. If you don’t already have an email address, we recommend a free Gmail account to get started.
- URL Forwarding – Send website requests for http://www.yourfreedomain.com.au to another website address. If you go to that address, you will see we have URL forwarded it to our website.
- Nameserver and DNS Management – For advanced users who want to host a full website and their email using a hosting service.
All of these features can be setup and managed in our control panel.
Am I eligible for an Australian domain name?
The .au namespace is trusted and secure due to the strict eligibility requirements to hold a domain name. Basic eligibility criteria for .au domain names are:
- .com.au and .net.au – An active ACN, ABN (sole trader or partnership), state business number or registered trademark, where the name is an exact match, abbreviation or acronym, or has a close and substantial connection to the domain name.
- .id.au – Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and your name is an exact match, abbreviation or acronym, or be a personal hobby or interest. These domain names cannot be used for business purposes.
- .org.au and .asn.au – Available to non-commercial organisations such as a registered charity, incorporated association, sporting or special interest club, political party, trade union and other non-profit organisations where the name is an exact match, abbreviation or acronym, or has a close and substantial connection to the domain name.
