Now that I've had this for six months, I like it more. It's absolutely nothing like Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and the clove scent overpowers everything else to such a degree that this is a very one dimensional fragrance, suitable only during winter, but it's not bad. I doubt I'll ever wear it more than 5-6 times per year, but it does smell better after some maceration and in colder weather.

iris

Have you smelled clove cigarettes? It's like this, but with a cigar, fresh from the humidor. Clove works great for spicing up the thick vanillic-nicotine paste, seeming almost edible with the addition of plum tartness. And then there are also some woody notes to neutralize the impression of "edible". All in all, a clever and balanced fragrance that didn't excite me much.

murysusanto

This smells exactly like oriflame architect which was released in 2011 and now discontinued.

Caesar's Legion

Franck Boclet Tobacco is a more subdued, approachable, wearable ,lighter and cheaper version of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. It's quite pleasant. Although not a dupe of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, it certainly reminds me of it.
I do wish it had Incense, Cinnamon and Frankincense notes to this.
The Benzoin note here could have been boosted a bit.
It is there, just not as prominent as I'd like. The Clove note is excellent. Fredeic Malle Musc Ravageur does a nice Clove note too.
Overall it's a good buy if you can find it. I ordered a sample from Scents Angel. I have not found a full bottle in the US yet. I'm sure I'll have to search for it.

If you don't like this type of scent then try Zegna Golden Myrrh. Might be more your taste . An excellent scent as well. Which I own .

You should be able to wear this in the summer.

Charming spicy and sweet scent with the hits of tobacco. It’s a beautiful gourmand fragrance with deep woody base and zingy yet warm clove/ginger mix. I don’t feel the plum here in particular but rather a subtle jammy facet. Very nice!!

Very nice fragrance. To my nose, it is the same as BY THE FIREPLACE. Tobacco and clove.

I love them both so it's very nice to me.

paroxism

smells like Sprite after the bubbles run out or like a traditional turkish tea (çay) , the dark red type

NorCo314

So far this is the best tobacco based fragrance I have found. It is definitely not a dupe of Tobacco Vanille, and that is good...because TV is over hyped and pretty linear. FB Tobacco has a great clove note, which might be off putting for some, but it gives it that 'bay rum' feel. It has great longevity, but don't expect to ruin a party with its scent bubble. You might project a few feet for the first 2 hours, and after that it's perfect for an office setting. I never understood people who drench themselves in fragrance for attention. Its great, but not cheap - even at the discounters. I don't get plum at all. Its cloves, pipe tobacco and ginger.

0xrafae

It's hard to find many positives about this fragrance. It's underwhelming and one-dimensional. Also, significantly falls short in terms of longevity and sillage, with the former being particularly disappointing. The only nice feature is a subtle plum note, but that's a weak consolation. Sorry, Franck.

PaddyOhFraiche

This is a nice scent if you like sweet & spicy tobacco scents, but it’s redundant to me because I already have Zara’s warm black which is a fraction of the price of this. The clove in this is also very strong, especially in the opening and it can be off putting if you don’t enjoy that note. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a cheap alternative to TV, only if you can’t find warm black which is like 20-30 bucks.

Shadow97

A hidden gem of mine… Excellent longevity and projection, smells like christmas, gets so many compliments and the price is absolutely affordable. Worth gatekeeping ;)

Adri.p1000

Starts like tom ford tobacco veni but after 20 min strat to go in direction of spice bomb edt
Performance less then both tv and spicebomb
Just over spray

Dimmuburger

Beautiful, but how many different tobacco fragrances does one need. If you already have TV, Carlisle, Exclusif Tabac, or any of the many others, it's pretty redundant. But wonderfully priced compared to the heavy hitters.

Gambino78

Gorgeous scent! The similarities with TF Tobacco Vanille are very close to zero. I don't get why people say they are similar. This one is more complex and the plum note is a bonus. Sillage is very good and longevity on my skin is 7-8 hours +.

ali.hemmati

This is a holy grail for clove lovers!
such a comforting combination of clove and tobacco.
cloves reminds me of a sauna for some reason and feels comforting to me!
I get the TV opinions but TV is all about sweetness and Franck Boclet tobacco is not sweet at all. so not relevant
no comments on longevity./not a blind buy/ this is gonna be for self enjoyment. otherwise, not a people pleaser..
great experience to sniff it.

I bought this based on the main accords and reviews, but so far I find it just okay. Maybe it's just my nose, but I'm not catching any hint of plum at all. The clove scent is overpowering, the only other scent that I recognized was tobacco, but only slightly. I've only worn it during summer and early spring so far. Not a peep from anyone, which makes me wonder if it smells bad to others. Hopefully it'll smell better to me in winter or maybe after the bottle macerates for a year or so, but so far I'm disappointed with this perfume.

kamarasgyorgy

Holy scent, absolutely beautiful. The plum note is what makes it so unique. I wear it rn and I am constantly smelling myself.

twoski

I see a lot of similarities with Tobacco Vanille here. The tobacco note seems very similar and the spice profile is very similar to Tobacco Vanille, although i will say i prefer this fragrance since it is less sickly sweet (the absence of star anise is probably the main reason i tolerate this one over TV).

Certainly not my favorite tobacco fragrance by a long shot, I think in general i just do not enjoy the combination of tobacco and clove. I really do not pick up much plum or vetiver or even the ginger, which is a shame since i think those notes would have made this stand out better as a tobacco fragrance and give it a real personality instead of being a close relative of TV.

Tobacco fragrances like Herod, Virtus, and Mystery Tobacco are more interesting for me.

I find this to be fairly unisex and a good cold weather choice.

kopogos

I checked all my perfumes, and this is in the top 3! Fantastic concoction to my nose, the plum, clove and tobacco are the most prevalent notes in there. Amazingly put together, I highly recommend it for the die-hard tobacco fans.

MarkoPeeko

Outstanding.

Lucky enough to own a 10ml of TF Tobacco Vanille and around 50ml left of Al Haramain Oud Tobacco. This isn’t as harsh on the cloves as AHOT, and it’s not as well-rounded as TFTV, but it’s one magnificent tobacco fragrance in its own right.

Even more so after picking up a 50ml bottle for $55AUD off FragranceNet. If you fancy nabbing yourself a 100ml bottle, buy 2x 50ml bottles. (Somehow, you’ll save yourself around $20AUD. No idea why).

Longevity is easily 8-9 hours. Moderate to strong projection off 3 sprays.

An absolute banger.

Morcant

The best fragrance ever. I am a woman and I use it daily. First it smells like tobacco, cloves and ginger, but after a while you can smell the sweet scent of plume. I work in 12-hour shifts and even after this period, you can smell it. In the end, it is sweet and warm. Overall, it is a magical perfume with a rich aroma and everlasting longevity.

updog

closer to tobacco oud than tobacco vanille

Guest2563

Smells exactly like candied prune on me, . I don't really get tobacco or anything else , much thiner and not that close to tobacco vanille. performance is decent.

TouristTrophy

This is fantastic! To me, it comes off as the love child between TF Tobacco Vanille and Roja Enigma (two of my all time faves), without really smelling like either. It’s more reminiscent of TF TV with that dry tobacco note and dried fruits, but this has more tobacco and less spices (and no vanilla). It doesn’t smell like Enigma at all, but has the same “pop” from the ginger, which makes an otherwise heavy-ish scent sparkle and jump lightly off the skin. This popping ginger quality makes it, somewhat incredibly, an all-weather tobacco fragrance! Performance (for me) is great.

TabledThoughts

Tobacco meets a prune danish.
I like the spices in the initial blast alot.
I just wish they were more prominent to my nose throughout.
If a plummy tobacco is what you crave then look no further.
Sadly, plum disagrees with me.
Yet, As ever, quality juice from Monsieur Boclet.

Btw.. I really like his Ylang Ylang offering. A surprisingly good gourmand with the floral note hidden inside!

raw.beast

Yep, I’m a fan of tobacco frags and I adore Franck Boclet’s perfumery for its quality.

From this one I got a deep balsamic plum tincture, it’s kinda like portwine, but without squicking booziness. I’m a bit disappointed about the main cloves note, but the others are still very noticeable and the frag in general is really great.
I’d even say it’s more masculine than unisex. Can’t detect much vetiver or ginger, but other notes are even a bit shouting. It’s a deep and bright frag, highly balsamic and sounding like a thick liquid. It’s highly rich in its notes and vibes in all of the meanings of the word “rich”! Idk, I also can detect some kind of agarwood, I guess? Like from old wine or cognac barrels.
It also reminds me of Light my Fire by Kilian, just the vibes and their similar kind of sweetness that I love.

Another masterpiece in my collection, yep.

Seanmesser666

I'm not gonna lie to you guys, i have both this and Tobacco Vanille. This one just slightly takes it home for me. The sweetness is nicer in this one, worth the money.

cvaile

This most reminds me of Aramis Tobacco Reserve, but with a richer, lusher tobacco note less the dry powdery tobacco note in the Aramis. And that clove. I actively seek out the clove note in fragrances, but if you're one of those people that avoids clove (eugenol) like the plague, you should definitely not blind buy this.

I know this gets compared to TF Tobacco Vanille, as any leather fragrance with a sweet side will, but for me this is not nearly as sweet as TV. That's pushing gourmand, where as this (IMO) is not even in that same category. This has some sweetness, but it's not what I would call a sweet fragrance. This is more a sweeter take on a traditional tobacco scent, not the paradigm shifting sweetness that TV brings to the table.

MattL

I really enjoy tobacco fragrances, so I had to give this one a try. While I like it and give it a thumbs-up, it doesn’t really give me a strong tobacco vibe. In fact, I get much more clove than tobacco, especially in the dry down. Having said that, I still enjoy it and think that the clove note adds something different from my other tobacco fragrances.

UPDATE 1/24/2023
I’ve got to modify my review a little bit. While I still really like it, the tobacco seems to have gotten stronger, while the clove has weakened ever so slightly. I’m guessing it’s just the natural evolution as the fragrance ages. I like it even more now than I did two months ago.

Farrque

Pleasant boozy & slightly fruity opening that quickly turns into a harsh, run-of-the-mill vanilla amber, atleast when smelled up close.
The aura it produces is gorgeously boozy with a clean, chocolatey tobacco aswell as a touch of vanilla.

cklostreich

Psyched! Third bottle on order. See my original review from 11/20/21.

Blaxican

This colonge is great 👍 I get tobacco, honey, plum and a lite clove but I noticed if your body temperature rises then the plum note comes out. I put the colonge on around 1pm went to work from 2:30 to 11 and it was still beast mode on me I could smell my own sillage all day. Also I emailed there customer service to verify that they sell it in a 1.7 once because I seen a review thinking it was fake and this was the reply

Dear Client

Tobacco is available in 50 ml as well 100 ml.
Indeed, the 50 ml is not available on our shop online.

Damn this is good 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Klonoa07

This is clove heaven to me! 😍 I like this very much. I don’t really think it smells like tobacco vanille, they are just in the same style of fragrance. I do wish the plum note was more prominent though, I would suggest you try before you buy it you don’t like clove.

JL2271

You can buy 30 ml of TF TV for $150 or 100ml of F Boclet for $135 probably less I’m just going by what I’m seeing today. Very similar I get more of an overall tobacco vibe than I do with TV though I’m deeply in love with Tobacco Vanille since the weather has cooled off. The Franck Boclet I get the plum along with some zing from the ginger in the opening where the overall feel is more of a humidor/wet tobacco one with dried fruit. Later on the scent becomes a drier tobacco with the spices kicking up a notch. Performance is quite good as opposed to Tobacco Vanille which is incredible. Very good fragrance. 4.2/5

alex23481

@caylemoore56 I also got my 100 ml bottle with a different batch number on the box than on the bottle. I bought it from a highly rated online discounter. It’s the first time this happened to me. The performance and the quality are there…Can anyone explain this? Strange…

caylemoore56

@CologneGuy49, I pulled the trigger on the $37 1.7 oz from fragrancenet last week, so it's funny you mention. I'm still waiting to hear some info as I've posted in the forum about this under the batch code/fake bottle thread in the men's category, but I received mine today...the "lot number" is different on the box than on the bottle. Pictures are linked in the forum post... Box did come wrapped neatly in cellophane. And smells as other reviews on line and Youtube have stated. Tobacco Vanille with a hint of spicebomb. I don't know. The lot number thing sketches me out although I haven't heard of these being faked as it's not a popular, highly sought after release.

CologneGuy49

I see fragrancenet has a 1.70z for $37.00 that has to be fake as can be right?

Rezak77

Cloves are main actor here, so unfortunate that neither plum nor Tobacco is prominent...I bought 5ml decant, will not buy a full bottle...

FreshFlow

For now, this is a weird one for me. And it is another reminder that I should stop blind buying expensive fragrances solely based on listed notes, reviews and the "reminds me of" section lol

I get a blast of ginger and spices in the opening and nothing else, no tobacco or sweetness whatsoever. It actually reminds me of Bentley for Men Absolute. However, upon realizing this similarity, I sprayed BM Absolute on my other wrist and had to realize that it's actually sweeter to me than Franck Boclet Tobacco.

It dried down for a few hours now and didn't really change besides becoming less spicy and aggressive. But still no sweetness or tobacco, which I was looking for in this fragrance. Plum was never seen so far.

I will give it some more wears to see if things change or if my nose simply has to adapt.

tessture

Yup, I agree it's similar to Tobacco Vanille, but it's much better in so many ways. Tobacco Vanille is more spices and woody on me than tobacco or frankly vanilla, but this is smooth, clovey, rich, sweet tobacco that is soft in character, understated while smelling AWEsome. It's pretty light, though and didn't last long on my skin. But oh, it's NICE while it does last. It makes Tobacco Vanille smell like an Axe body spray in comparision.

Kumana

Very identical to Al Haramain’s Amber Oud Tobacco Edition. Almost 90% longevity and sillage is not so great compared to the Al Haramain.

AlaskanAngel

Very well done spiced vanilla tobacco fragrance. Not as creamy or rich as TFTV but cleaner, less sexy, more professional. This settles down lighter, more airy, dryer/less sticky, but still spiced vanilla tobacco.

The fruit in here is a nice touch, even though it quickly burns off; the plum note reminds me of the opening of SINGLE MALT by Kilian, but this has no booze and is gone quite quickly.

This will be easy to wear when TF TV would be too heavy. This could still be a bit too much for warm weather though, it's 75°F now and I'd wear this indoors with AC but wouldn't wear it outside. Perfectly unisex. At less than $80 this was a great blind buy!

UPDATE
I wore this a few times but after about hour 4 it really reminds me of an uncle, not bad, it's nice, just more classic than I like. Something cologne-like emerges in the deep dry down. Gonna pass this on. Decluttered.

Smoky Angels Share?

brumbarche

If you like the following perfumes in the respective order of resemblance (imo), you’ll know exactly what to expect from Tobacco. It leans masculine and if it’s to be added to the list below, it’d be the one with the sweetest and most vanillic drydown.

**Histoires de Parfums 1969
L’Artisan Tea for Two
and
ELDO Noel au Balcon
ELDO Jasmine Et Cigarette
**ETRO Etra

This is how I’d explain its evolution:
First stage: L’Artisan Tea for Two
Second (longest) stage: Histoires de Parfums 1969
Last phase: Zara Warm Black

**Histoires de Parfums 1969 and Etra - if you are patricularly fond of any of those perfumes, try also another Franck Boclet's creation, ICON.
Icon captures, while mellows and at the same time amplifies, that oly, milky fruity wierdness that those two perfumes feature.

PLK

I don't know if it is a problem with my skin or my nose, but this smells like green tea. I was expecting a sweet tobacco but I get tea. Smelling them side by side it is actually quite similar to tobacco vanille.

Seuni

It lasts, 7h minimum. It projects - I get some whiffs of it, doesn't stay very close to the skin.

It smells of what the notes say exactly - there's lots of plum in the top, unfortunately, there's also lots of clove - which I hate - in a Christmas kind of way clove, not bitter. lots of the sweetness is reminiscent of Angel's Share for me. There's this praline, sweet cinnamon, sweet woody, vanilla, benzoin sweetness here.

If you enjoy tobacco, cloves, plum, vanilla, benzoin, cinnamon, and sweet woods (in order of importance) than this is for you.

It's a bit of straight forward with the notes of what it is - of you enjoy the note breakdown on paper you're gonna like this.

Reminds me of tobacco vanille and Kilian's Angels' Share. Best for autumn and winter, ideal for Christmas. More masculine, but can be worn by anyone. Not really office safe - that clove might not be liked by everyone.

jarrid_steel

I just added this to my collection. Found it on Fragrancebuy.ca for only $95 and at that price, it's a steal.

To my nose, it's like Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille had a baby with Burberry London with a bit of PdM Herod's in the mix.

It's very wonderfully and beautifully composed and blended. Sweet and spicy, ambery tobacco is what you get, so if you're into those types of scents, then this is definitely one for you to check out.

updog

Amazing, but redundant since I already own TF tobacco oud.

Bruton Gaster

This was exactly what I was looking for. Tobacco forward opening with some pleasant fruitiness coming from the plum note. Then settles into a spicy and sweet tobacco, but not overly dense sweetness. Drydown is clove, vanilla, and persistent tobacco which is gorgeous. I love that tobacco is there from start to finish.

Some similarities to TFTV but missing the strong dried fruit note which is exactly what I was looking for. I've never liked the sticky/sweet/sour smell of dried fruit, so the lack of it here makes it just right for me. If you're like me and dislike that note in TFTV then this is perfect for you. Sensational!

cklostreich

I honestly do not think I'll ever get over this scent, and often am thinking to myself why I do not own a backup. Sweet tobacco like a humidor that isn't edgy, with a plum sweetness that creates volume for the sweet aspect of the tobacco note, with a not-as-heavy but present clove as a third wheel -- the clove appears quickly -- and towards the end of the initial note envelope that once the clove appears, the three primary notes (tobacco, plum, and clove) blend into a pairing for the middle linearity of the fragrance. Traditionally masculine and a performer for the first half of it's wearing, I highly recommend this item for all of the readers whom have an affinity for a tobacco that is punchy, yet not-too-edgy, supported with a sweet plum top and bed of spicy clove. I can see an assertive, outgoing woman wearing this also; and, what a conversation starter that'd be.

This item is simple and genius. I've long been searching for a tobacco fragrance I could wear that isn't a cinnamon, honey, nor other type like so many, and I feel I've finally found what I'm looking for with this. Relating to common items found in the same scent profile, Naxos has a honeyed ginger to me, Tobacco Vanille is a bit holiday-celebratory vanilla-esque with spices, 1821 is pure honey, Herod isn't as powerful and emphatic on the tobacco note with other things going on ... This is the tobacco I've been searching for -- tobacco center stage, with some plum nuance sweetnesses and clove to undulate an aspect of the tobacco in the dry down.

If you, like me, have been looking for a bit simple, pleasant tobacco sent, I highly suggest trying a decant of this, hands down. This is so pleasing to me, that in fact, I will begin looking into others from this line -- Amber, and Leather, perhaps.

Edit: easily top 10 in my personal collection, second bottle acquired. I've noticed that this has very poor longevity to the user (maybe I'm 'nose-blind'), but it doesn't really bother me reapplying, or spraying 6-8 times each application.

SalivatingSoul-stice

This sounds like burberry london on steroids! Can anyone confirm?!

Fragnificent

although I do find this similar to TF tobacco vanille it doesn't smell exactly the same I think Boclet's tobacco smells more like Christmas with the added fruitiness and as the performance isn't quite as good I'd imagine this would be better for intimate occasions. It also smells a bit harsher to my nose and not as rounded and well blended as the TF some could say having one makes the other redundant but I don't think so.

Maximus8321

Very good fragrance! Smells very, very, very similar to Tobacco Vanille by TF, however; I like the spiciness in that one better! Very solid!!!

rayt

Too sweet, and too much clove for me.. next..

Roozy85

This is a must for those whom like me love Tobacco. Don't pay attention to the negative comments. If you like tobacco with a touch of sweetness, you're gonna love it.
I just wish performance was a little bit better, but with that said, it is not a bad performer at all.
Sweet,well blended Tobacco.
Totally unisex.
Ages, really anybody.

Mina Abdo

Very solid tobacco perfume.

peter94

Better than Tom Ford, the plum note gives it more niche feel which I like

Flippi1

its a nice spicy fruity fragrance but it ain't no TF Tobacco Vanille !

musk_heaven

Too much clove hate it ,for me tom fordTv is way better

callsomeoneyoulove

I could smell nothing but cloves and dried fruits. Overly sweet

Was pleasant on paper but no charm on my skin.
I suggest to test for a few weeks before buying.

Villo5

Its a beautiful tobacco perfume, but on me it doesnt last very long.

nikilane

This is my next purchase! I have a sample of it and I can't stop sniffing it. It's a beautiful tobacco fragrance. And about the similar ones around in the popular ones, I'm ranking them by sweetness.
TF - Tobacco Vanille: Yes, they have a similar vibe but TVanille is much sirupy sweeter then F.Boclet Tobacco.

Zara - Rich/Warm/Addictive: I think they are the closest similar out of the four I own. But zara is a little bit honey like sweet, the sweetness in between TF TVanille and this Tobacco, and it has no longevity at all (2 hour). In F.Boclet Tobacco clove is stronger (to my nose it closer to cinamon then clove, but it's my nose), and it's much more longlasting (6-8 hour).

F.Boclet - Tobacco: I already write the diferrence between them. I love all 4 of them, but the best side of this is the strong clove note (to me it's absolutly powder cinamon). So it's a must have for me as well. :)

P.De Marly - Herod: I think they are not so similar, but yes, they have the tobacco vibe, so in thet category maybe. Herod is "drier", not thet sweet then the other ones, but still sweet in my tast. To my nose Herod is the perfect unisex fragrance, becouse it sometimes leans masculin and in the same time leans feminin. The other ones leans feminin to me becouse of the sweetness.

DawnBreaker

What I always wanted Tobacco Vanille to smell like. This blows the newer formulation of TV out of the water. It features a glorious fruity plum, vanilla, clove and woody cedar with a more pronounced tobacco note than TV. I also get ambery vibes from the benzoin. Smells deep, full and rich, like a good tobacco frag should. I get a solid 8 hours and pretty decent sillage. After a sample, I had to pull the trigger on a full bottle. It's difficult to find in the States, but if you find it it's definitely full bottle worthy. If you're looking for a rich, sweet tobacco frag, skip Tom Ford and get this instead. You'll save a hundred bucks and smell like a boss.
Edit: Try layering this with Creed Royal Oud. It sweetens up the dryness and brings out the subtle tobacco notes of the Creed. Very nice.

Zagrosasad

Dawnfiller

Awesome tobacco, clove, and Tonka bean perfume! I swear I smell a hint of cinnamon but it isn’t listed in notes. This is subtle on my skin even with heavy sprays. It lasts about 3-4 hours on my extremely dry skin but lasts on clothes closer to 8 hours. Scent bubble is about arm length on me. This is a perfect fall and winter scent! This reminds me of my favorite perfumes; Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Mancera Red Tobacco, and Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco Edition. I highly recommend it if you like Tobacco scents and it is unisex.

sjaff

Wow this one is must have in collection if you like sweet and tobacco scents. Sweet tobacco and smells beautiful.. one of the best blind buys. it is in the DNA of TF tobacco vanille but not exactly same. I can't stop smelling this after sprayed, smells luxurious. Love it.

lemale83

Yes this is pretty close to Tobacco Vanille, but Frank Bolcet is not very thick, much easier to wear. Opening has a realistic pipe tobacco note with a fruity undertone. It’s very linear, during the dry down fruity notes disappear. Sweet vanilla and benzoin notes compliment the main tobacco theme nicely. It’s not overpowering. However performance is not as strong as TV, Frank Bolcet last around 8+ hours, but the projection is not very loud, may be it’s a good thing..

meroo

It is nice, but I might have a nose that is sensetive to clove. So for me the clove is so dominant I only smell a bit of tobacco and blum in the background. Nice, however a little too 'clovy' for my likeing.

CheekyChap

This has been reformulated. without a doubt.

I had a bottle of this I bought in 2018. The performance was stellar, it's in the tobacco vanille camp of tobacco scents but I actually preferred boclet due to its complexity and plum note really added something for me.

I foolishly sold it in a rash numbers cull in 2019 and by the end of the year regretted the sale (these things happen) and bought it back. I knew immediately it had been reformulated. The first bottle I had the fragrance lasted at least 10 hours on my skin, the newer bottle gone in 3 to 4. I've spoken to others who have also bought it back having sold older bottles on and all have the same findings.

Anyone confused over differing opinions on the fragrances longevity should be aware of this before buying.

It's difficult to capture in words how you feel about a scent when you adore it. You really wish you could do it justice in writing but you've just lost before you even begin.

This scent had me taken by surprise the moment I first encountered it. First it was on a slip of paper, very soon after on my skin. Once I had smelled this, I pushed all the other slips of paper away from the "table of options" to just give me a break with this one only. I was carried away by its mood of tranquility, the unbreakable softness and balance. Above all I was stunned by how beautifully it represented both the feminine and the masculine, neither dominating the other. I always feel a sense of peace or inner completion when two opposites meet in harmony - when the opposites within me are both fulfilled. With this fragrance, I can be everything at the same time without being an unreliable, cloying mess - I want warm, spicy, sweet, fresh, woody... and here I have it all.

There are indeed many notes that presumably make this perfume masculine (such as vetiver and of course the tobacco), but it is all softened (but not subdued) and made warm by the vanilla, and spicy by the cloves. Further, I feel like the plum is what truly uplifts this fragrance into not being heavier than it should be - bringing the balance. It's a subtle but genius move to put the living into the dying (fruit into ashes). The fragrance has a beautiful sillage, the cloudy quality of which reminds me of the "powderiness" of Karl Lagerfeld Classic or the original formulation of Dior Homme (only the quality of the sillage, the scent itself is not similar to these aforementioned). I feel like the sillage or projection of Tobacco is best done justice in winter or autumn (even the colour of the juice is like vividly brown autumn leaves), and whilst wearing it I feel very present in the moment.

This fragrance suits a woman or a man who is calm with who s/he is. Confidence doesn't need to be shouted out with or asserted with a bold fragrance. Even classier, it can be done subtly with a simple yet complex truth just as this scent, and people will always think what they will. I feel like Tobacco certainly is the kind of fragrance that will catch attention, but it won't be the usual head-turner you might think of, the one that gets you compliments. No, I feel like this is the kind of fragrance that skips ahead of that flattery because it's superfluous. It has the potential of making a complete stranger want to sit you down right now and have a real human conversation with you while studying you very carefully. I really feel like Tobacco can draw people in, as it did with myself.

So I tested this over a week with a 5ml decant, and I was pleasantly surprised with the fragrance. Simply it smells very nice expensive and of high quality, there is no synthetic / plastically smell in this at all.

The opening is a strong rich sparkly tobacco accord thanks to the ginger that settles down to a sweet fresh tobacco, after 30 min the cloves and plum really come into play providing rich added depth to the fragrance with a the perfect balance of tart to sweetness. It reminds me of how black current is used in the iconic YSL Opium Pour Homme EDP.

1 hour in you will get the cedar, tonka and vanilla with the plum and clove all in unison with the tobacco accord lingering for the entire life of the scent, every time you sniff the first note you smell is tobacco followed by the other balanced accords. This fragrance is blended so well and as a result there are no rough edges and it is smooth as silk. It is less sweet as Tom Ford's TV and not vanilla or tonka dominant which is great !
On my skin, longevity is about 8 hours and the projection is very strong for the first 3 hours, and I wish it had some booze in it with perhaps rose or oris root in it to differentiate itself in the market so as to avoid the TV comparisons which detract from its superb quality. About 5 hours in I was getting, after the tobacco accord, a very faint vetiver with an almost syrupy chocolate note which I believe comes from the mix off clove, benzoin, plum and vanilla.

Personally I prefer this over TV as it is more masculine especially in the opening, it becomes more unisex in dry down and the rest of the fragrance but still leans slightly masculine with the richness and depth.
I really like this a lot and am tempted to buy a bottle, I would suggest you get a decant and test it a good week.

its a beast n i am in love. im gonna explore this house more
ps I aint buying TV ever now lol

Vitriol08

very well blended as usual with all the scents from this house.
Round, classy, strong, slightly sweet.
It feels like the more well rounded and wearable version of Red Tobacco.
I have now six scents from this house and love them all.

Louismanuel

Thank you very much fragrance community fOr all the rave reviews for this UNDERACHIEVER.
I should have bought S.T. Dupont Tobacco,instead.
Don't know if I like the scent but I bet it performs much better for half the price.
9 sprayes after shower 3 hours ago but unless I lift my arm to my nose I don't smell it.
Chances are it will still be there upclose in the morning, but don't like to need to sniff my arms like a drugs addicted in order to smell something.
Oh well, I may update tomorrow morning. Or not.

BaJu

I like it very very much! Rich, spicy, smooth, velvety!!! Performance a bit dissapointing, could be better. Then it would be just great 😉

NoelleLovesScents

AMAZING juice! If you like spicy, if you like cinnamon and clove, this is your thing. This smells like the mix used when you wanna boil wine in the winter, that mix with all the good stuff in it, before you actually add it to the wine. This is indeed similar to TF Tobacco Vanile and also a bit similar to Herod PdM, but they definitely go different ways, similarities are just partial.

ts4r

Smells exactly like 18.21 Manmade vanilla body wash

GuiltGuild

I am getting A LOT of cloves here, like putting your nose in a bag of cloves, in a pleasant way. After the cloves comes vanilla-flavored rolling tobacco (once bought a pack called "vanilla ice", but it was almost all vanilla and no ice, well this smell is exactly like that).
The clovey-plummy theme reminds me of marinated plums, where the sweetness of the fruit becomes mixed with the sourness and saltiness of the brine as well as with the spiciness of cloves and cinnamon.

Zagrosasad

Exenidi

Very pleasant certainly unisex fragrance - but my skin ate it all up within 30 min. So I was left with a pretty much quieter version of this “well mannered” sweet tobacco. However this way it stayed for another 2-3 hours and reminded of itself by constant presence. I like it, it’s a comfort scent and reminds me of Tobacco Rouge quite a lot, but I appreciate absence of anything annoyingly sharp or dirty in it, when all what’s needed is comfort and warm cuddles.

teacat68

I don't think this smells much like TV myself. It's a very nice sweet tobacco, but not as realistic as Tom Fords offering. I prefer it actually. I find it much easier to wear and more versatile.
I found it for under £60 so jumped on it and I'm glad I did.
Great for cold days and nice as it's warming and cozy.
For the over 30's I would say.

StiX

It's just nice.
Quite linear with no development at all - just tobacco and vanilla. It smells good and seems to be of high quality - there's nothing sharp or unpleasant in it.
It's not overpowering, quite lightweight, giving you this pleasant scent bubble.
Performance is disappointing, though - 5 hours later and I barely can smell it. Am I nose blind now or is it infamous reformulation?!

MarnaL

Very amazing perfume with great performance. I was surprised this was a fragrance for males. I thought it was a unisex or a female frag. Anyways, will buy!

NiceLemon282

Initially I get a very sweet smell, but after a few minutes what I can smell is a dry chilli chocolate. Very gourmand to me. It is a good smell with good performance, but I do prefer Herod if we were to compare it to another tobacco I've tried. To me though, it smells nothing like Herod at all, could easily have both. Worth mentioning it is 1/2 of the price of Herod and even further away from Tobacco Vanile. The box and bottle could be from a Zara fragrance though, really cheaply presented compared to others at the price.

Type of wearer: Mature, smart casual dressed male.

Situation: Walking in the snow before returning to log cabin to sit in front of the fire with a brandy as it calms down.

Edit: having tried TF Tobacco Vanille, I've got to say this is very close. Maybe slightly softer on the spices. If I wanted TFTV I'd probably get this instead.

edelcarril

A waste of money. Only 15 minute, and disappear. Una pérdida de dinero. Aunque es un aroma agradable, no dura nada.

fealiyev

So far the best (colder weather) tobacco fragrance I have come across. I have tried Parfums de Marly Herod, Phaedon Tabac Rouge, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Mancera Red Tobacco, Xerjoff Naxos and some others. For my nose, Franck Boclet Tobacco has the most natural dry tobacco leaves smell without being too sweet. Performance is also good with this one. Yet to explore warmer weather tobacco fragrances.

Pempipot

Blind buy and instant love. Must be one of the most wonderful things I ever smelled. It's so perfect for a woman... and it has something that reminds me of Lutens' Feminité du Bois (the plum accord, I guess?): it's sweet and incredibly aromatic. I love this one SO much and cannot reccomend it enough!

gedlive

Will be my last review for some time.
After collecting for 4 years and 90 bottles later, I feel I have the grace to stop adding and exploring new frags.

If my favorite house Diptyque, Jovoy or Tom Ford come out with something new, I may check it out.

I found the best Tobacco, Oud, Patchouli, vetiver, fresh, aromatic, frags out there for me.
I feel my collection is complete.

I found the best way to be satisfied with your collection, and not be constantly tempted to buy something new; is stop using fragrances for a day or two, and you will rediscover the enjoyment of what you have.

FB Tobacco review:
It has the same chocolatey, green tobacco/ vanilla accord of TF Tobacco Vanille. It does have a bit more green tobacco leaf than TV. I would say it's a good clone of Tom Ford TV, with less richness and bit more fresh spiciness from the ginger and more fruitiness from the plum. So it's better for casual wear, at work and such. You won't gas people out, as with Tobacco Vanille.
The plum note mimicks the dried fruit of TV. I do believe there is an unlisted chocolate note.
Franck Boclet Tobacco is fresher, an all season frag, below 80'; whereas TV is more for the cold, Fall and Winter.

Tobac Rouge was it's own fragrance, though similar to TV, with a very good authentic pipe tobacco smell, and sweet honey.
Tobac Rouge has the strongest and best tobacco note of the three, the sweetness is more natural, honey sweet. The quality is a bit better than Franck Boclet, with notes being more distinct.

I wore both frag today, and I'm changing my mind. I do feel I'm wearing a cheaper TV. The scent is 95% the same. Boclet is 80% the quality, and 1/2 the price of TV.
This is miles away from Lutens Chergui.

In my search for a great Tobacco dominant fragrance; Mancera Red Tobacco, had the strongest tobacco note;
But Tobacco Rouge uses Turkish Tobacco absolute, has the most authentic Tobacco note.

Rating: 8/10

SmellMyCheese

Similar to TV as people have said. I'd say it leans closer to the Tobacco side than the Vanille side and it isn't a beast like TV which could be good or bad depending on your perspective. The Boclet would work better for casual wearing I think (and it's cheaper).

Ralphangel

Just added Franck Boclet Tobacco to my already pretty extensive Tobacco perfumes collection and I must say it's right up there with the best of them. The sweet tobacco with plum and cloves makes for a very sophisticated and classy scent. The Longevity is a beast!

1. Herrods by parfums de Marly
2. Franck Boclet Tobacco
3. 1821 Man Made Tobacco Spirits
4. Thierry Mugler A Men Pure Havane
5. Cuba Gold, Cuba Paris Cologne
6. Zara Tobacco sweet, warm, and addictive

Heifrank

The opening is pretty similar to TV, but while being in the same genre, they have their unique dna.

I think Tabacco is lighter and a bit bubble gummy. I like this better than TV.

Smelling this from the atomiser and it’s very close to TV, spray it and the gap widens. It retains the TV vibe in many ways, but this takes on its own identity. Whilst TV is sweetened with vanilla, this uses both vanilla and beautiful plum, giving it a gourmand feel. The tobacco leaf is exquisite, another difference between it and TV.

Classy, sophisticated and mature. If you love your tobacco fragrances then get yourself a sample and try it.

To the casual fragrance lover, TV, Tabac Rouge and this are all interchangeable and
probably a redundant buy to have all three. Pick the variation you love and go for it. For me, as a collector and lover of tobacco fragrances, I have all three. I love all three for their own nuances, I don’t see any of them as redundant.

Is it better than TV? As a clone, no. But I don’t see it as a clone. It stands on its own two feet, amd in my collection it stands on equal par.

Fragrance -Tobacco Franck Boclet
Bottle from - 2016

Tobacco reminds me of a educated, experienced, intelligent and elegant gentleman, who can keep a secret. This is a distinguished, classy, sophisticated and sweet interpretation of tobacco and vanilla scent, with a little bit fruity and spicy opening notes that give way to a warm, sensual, woody, spicy, resinous and sweet blend of tobacco and vanilla with a nice touch of benzoin and cedar and with a wisper of vetiver. It has some similarities to Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford, there is no question about it.

I like tobacco like perfumes so much. The most perfumes in this class have tobacco scene next to other materials like tonka, honey, vanilla, Amber and so on. But Tobacco by franck Boclet has a very natural scent versus other perfumes in this class. Tobacco by Franck Boclet has a tobacco scent that it is so similar to dry tobacco leaf not smoked.

This brand isn't niche designer , but I believe that three perfumes of this brand that I had tested (Incense, Tobacco, Oud), have quality near niche perfumes.

This perfume is a little similar to CK One Shock for him by Calvin Klein, But Calvin Klein is sweeter and fruity like than this one and silage and longevity in CK isn't huge like this perfume, but Longevity and silage in Tobacco by Franck Boclet is so huge...

Smooth, sweet, gorgeous tobacco.
A class act. Last many hours, Excellent!
A must try for tobacco scent lovers.

Singabera

Had high expectations, but it didn't turn out right for me - too sweet, too much honey, cherry jam-y, a bit chemical on my taste. And I dont feel much tobacco.

Aroma Addictus

I'm a big fan of tobacco fragrances but in my journey to find the perfect tobacco scent I have noticed that most "tobacco" fragrances dont have a real pragmatic tobacco smell. Most of them are overloaded with vanilla, amber, spices, honey and even cloves. In that way many tobacco fragrances turn out to be just some very nice and complex ambery fragrances with a hint of tobacco instead of a realistic tobacco scent.

I was very dissappointed to learn that popular fragrances like Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Serge Lutens Sergui, Herod ans Spicbomb dont have that prominent tobacco note rather than just being good spicy sweet scents.

Untill now I have encountered only 3 fragrances that smell of real dry tobacco or cigarette:

1. Xerjoff Naxos (Hands down !!)
2. Thierry Mugler Pure Havane
3. Versace The Dreamer

Look no further....

Now I want to sample Franck Boclet Ambre Tabac and I hope I can add it to my list of real tobacco fragrances.

P.s. I you want a unsweet good tobacco scent go for Creed Tabarome

JEDI 2.0

Finally got my hands on 5ml of this.

There is an immediate, absolute similarity to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Also strongly resembles Phaedon Tabac Rouge. In my opinion, the three can be nearly interchangeable to the uninitiated nose, but discerning palettes will notice the nuances that separate them.

I enjoy this, but I'm still looking for something that has this exact tobacco accord, but without any vanilla or cinnamon/clove. Performance is great.

I used to rave about Tabac Rouge being better than TV, but honestly all 3 of these are on an even enough keel, that it all boils down to preference. The slight nuances of each are what will make or break each for you. Try em all and decide for yourself. I'll give this 8 out of 10.

landshark321

Frank Boclet Tobacco is undoubtedly similar to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, so that much needs to be acknowledged upfront, as Tobacco is often connected to the TF masterpiece seven years its senior.

There's not much not to like in Tobacco, as it's a mix of tobacco, spices (like clove), vanilla, benzoin, and an added note of ginger. There's not quite as much ginger in this as in Phaedon Tabac Rouge, wherein the ginger takes over and for me, ruins the fragrance a bit, but enough in Tobacco to make it somewhat spicier and less sweet (also due to less vanilla) than Tobacco Vanille.

Tobacco's performance is fine but certainly falls well short of Tobacco Vanille, which is a significant detraction, but in general it's a great scent and one I might otherwise buy (more affordably than TV, at $135 for 100ml on Notino) if TV weren't so perfect already.

RobK

It is similar to TV but is even more similar to Spicebomb Extreme.

HackerX

This is arguably the best Tobacco scent on the market right now. It is a little similar to Tobacco Vanille, but this one is much more about tobacco and it's much more wearable. For anyone who like Tobacco Vanille's tobacco note but find that fragrance too stuffy and sweet this fragrance is your answer, and you'll thank yourself for saving a hundred bucks!

Flowerwood

A wonderful, gently sweetened tobacco.
I usually prefer tobacco scents to be even less sweet , but among sweet Tobacco Vanilla relatives this is a real hit.
I like that it is balanced more towards tobacco than vanilla. The benzoin helps to make the vanilla darker, and the sweetening with plum and Tonka works really well.

With time cedar makes itself more and more noticeable and in the dry down Franck Boclet Tobacco relies on benzoin and cedar to become a very nice and soft woody-tobacco.

Whenever I want a sweat tobacco I will definitely turn to Boclet Tobacco.

kl99

Spiced drunk honey. This is the good smell of a Far West Movie of the 50s.

This is of course a blonde Tobacco/vanilla scent. Very very warm and spicy, it make me think to a glass of flavored cognac, or an cup of hot white wine, where has been dissolved a punch of honey candies, jam raisins, toffee, fleshy dates, dried fruits, candied fruits, cloves, spices. Uhhhmmm so gourmand and balsamic.

I really love this Tobacco, an embrace of joy. Great job.

For the rest I do totally marry the detailed opinion of misswithoutlogic.

NuclearOud

O.M.F***ing G. This is stuff is awesome, absolute quality. It's getting hard to find though. For some strange reason, I get a bit of a cherry vibe from this which is gorgeous, must be the plum.

micavana

I am a BIG fan of tradition masculine scents, such as Leather and tobacco, so I recently picked up a bottle of Boclet Leather and Boclet Tobacco. I am very glad i did!

Boclet Tobacco is similar to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, but not exactly the same as TV. There is more tobacco, but less vanilla than TV to my nose. Having said that, BT is very sweet. I also get a little bit of a balsamic vibe from BT.

In my TV review I talk about the opening have a deep south "boiled peanuts" opening. BT does not have this.

Bottom line: If you like Tobacco scents, you should try a sample of this one.

FrontLineMOG

Does anyone know somewhere in the U.S. I can purchase this and have it shipped to Chicago? I smelled this fragrance overseas and fell in love with it. I've tried google, but everything I've found is in Europe or Australia.

smellavision

Opening with pure syrupy honey, very sweet for the first hour. Very little tobacco is showing, with a slight resinous hint of tobacco leaves only peeping in very discretely later in the drydown.
Quite a few similarities to TFs Tobacco Vanille as I remember it.
If you're into sweet gourmandish, this is for you - personally I prefer Eau de Baux as it adds some spices to the sweetness. Great projection and longevity though.

rstefan

if you like TF Tobacco Vanille and want to spend less money go for this one, The difference is in the vanilla note in this one,it's more intensive, and you can also feel the cloves. Anyway..go for it!

pierrecason

i have tried almost all the line of boclet, and this is the best one by far. so don't bother for the others. super conforting smell for a man. not all the ladies will like it .. maby the younger girls won't find it plasant. who cares?

Sylver1

Not identical to TV, but close indeed. The F. Boclet creation is less sweeter while the spicy and the tobacco notes are more noticeable (with the exception of the first hour, when you can notice a syrup note close to the one from of Pure Havane).

Longevity is great, projection is very heavy and overall i do find Tobacco more masculine than Tom Ford's TV.

Minnija

today purchased 100ml of this one :) yes, it IS beautiful, I have used 3 bottles of TF Tobacco Vanille, so what can I say, this is almost the same, just not so expensive ;) bought 100ml for 119eur , for that it is good deal:) LOVE!!

Parfumista2010

I recently discovered this beautiful scent by chance. What can I say ? It is the love child of Tom Ford´s Tobacco Vanille and Hermès´Ambre Narguilé :-)
More of the first but also hints of the second one mentioned.
Very sweet, very gourmand, very christmassy. If you love TV and would like to save some money : go for the Boclet version. Where I live this scent retails for 125 Euro for 100ml of eau de parfum. With its good longevity this is a very acceptable alternative. I am almost a bit annoyed that I spent the money on TV 2 years ago...but then...I could not know this scent was in the making. Definitely thinking about getting this one also. It is a very comforting and super-delicious scent.
