Anyway by Juliette Has A Gun is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women and men. Anyway was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Romano Ricci. Top notes are Lime and Neroli; middle note is Jasmine; base notes are Ambroxan, Musk, Woody Notes and Hedione.

Romano Ricci goes “back to basics” with his new creation, the fragrance called Anyway, that joins the Juliette Has A Gun perfume collection. The new fragrance brings a breath of freshness, simplicity, softness and carefreeness. It is described by epithets such as quirky, outlandish and nonchalant.

The formula is simple and original - made from only fifteen ingredients of musky - woody – white floral and citrusy character. It fits both men and women well. In the new story, Juliette doesn’t seem to look at men as pray as in previous editions, but as partners in everyday life. The main top notes include neroli and lime. Jasmine dominates the heart, while the base is composed of musk and hedione and ambrox molecules.

Available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

JHAGs have historically not worked out very well for me but I received a sample of this and decided to try it…Is it just me or is there a slight manure smell to this? I do get a little of citrus muskiness but there is some lingering note in the background that ruins this for me. I normally like Ambroxan so looking at the notes listed here I’m not sure what it is. Frankly even if I liked this I wouldn’t buy it. Silage is trash.

Taurien

A unisex and summery citrus-floral perfume that I didn't find it special enough as to want to buy a full bottle.

To me it smells like white flowers, especially a very softened neroli, surrounded by green lemon and with a background of light ambroxan. It is refreshing and pleasant but a little subtle for my taste.

It has a soft sillage and lasts on my skin for 3-4 hours, a little longer if we apply very generously.

Taking into account its price, there are scents that compete with it and beat it in intensity and performance. Furthermore, I personally enjoy more compositions in which neroli is somewhat more predominant and pungent.

Juliette has a gun, Anyway: keeps up with the expectations that comes to mind when reading the notes of the formula. I find this to be a feminine unisex fragrance that brings with it a solid hit of lemon freshness to its wearer and his or her immediate surroundings.
Its silage is moderate, but to me that’s a good thing. If it went on being as strong as it is in the opening, it would’ve made the fragrance quite intruding to others (the lemon is a strong scent if fully unleashed).
After 30 minutes it slowly start to turn into a skin scent, and may I add, a great one at that.

A fresh summer fragrance that I feel I can easily pull of even though I’m a guy. It is an excellent unisex choice for the hotter days when you doesn’t necessarily want to wear perfume, but still feel like smelling fresh for your own sake.

Update:
This is lemon all the way! It’s a good thing I enjoy lemon because that all my nose can detect from this fragrance. After wearing it some more I’d concur with my earlier review that it’s indeed a unisex fragrance leaning just a tad towards the feminine. It’s not a scent I’d expect to smell off of my male friends, but it still ain’t a fragrance that reeks of woman in any way. Most of all it’s pleasant and fresh! With its rather poor sillage this is a scent you wear for your own sake. It’s pleasant and brings with it a sense of summer.
Could easily be pulled of by anyone, but even more so by women.

fragheadny

Breaks my heart to see people comparing this to Jour d'Hermes... This smells like being at a dingy old bar. Like it seriously smells like a margarita spilled all over a wooden bar table by some dude wearing too much cheap cologne. Anyway...
Edit: After letting this sit for an hour or so, I am eating my words. It's really not bad once the screechiness goes away. It's mostly ambroxan on my skin now, which I am a fan of. Not something I'd purchase, but not as bad as my initial impression haha.

aeterna

It might be my skin chemistry, but I (and others around me) stop noticing it 5 minutes after the initial spary. 30 minutes later if you put your nose right to the skin, you can notice some light masculine scent in the base notes.
I had a tester set of various JHAG fragrances and they just don't seem to work for me. I don't recommend this brand as a "blind buy". I find it doesn't really smell like the stated composition of notes in real life.

augustine0901

It’s light and clean, suitable for the warm weather. I caught a whiff of the citrus and musky notes after about an hour. I was a bit underwhelmed by this fragrance. The initial spray smelled like liquid, spray-type sunscreen on me. I did not experience the woody notes. You need at least five sprays to appreciate it and you'll have to re-spray throughout the day. Sillage is mid to low. Longevity is decent, about 4-5 hours.

It's an okay fragrance for me. This would be good for layering. Pleasant, but I'd give it a 3.5/5. I got a sample from a JHAG Discovery Set. For now, I don't think I would purchase a full-size bottle.

Note: fragrance experience is subjective as it depends on body chemistry, climate, and personal preference. I am from a tropical and maritime country with relatively high temperature, high humidity, and abundant rainfall.

Charlottesumxs

When I first spray, and I have to "overspray", I get a beautiful, clean, light scent that I enjoy. Ten minutes later there's nothing, even if I spray my clothes. I have had better experiences from $3 body sprays from discount department stores and can't understand why this fragrance costs so much.

Mnicolebolt

Beautiful scent. It does remind me of a lemon or lime vodka soda, but soft. It’s just a fresh, airy scent. I love it.

Celestya

For lime lovers. Perfectly unisex, appropriate for summer, very hot days. Inoffensive, this fragrance can be holidays and office compatible.

renperd

Anyway, I'm moving on. Not for the bold of heart. It doesn't look like anything to me.

saraholovati

A simple clean musky citrus. It’s an office-friendly perfume, but because of its simplicity, it isn’t anything special or worth buying a full bottle. The longevity and sillage is poor.

dormir6

Vodka with some lemone mixed with suntan lotion after two days. Dissapointment. Faint, boring even for summer days. Not fresh enough. Sillage and intensitiy is low.

Babey

Neither the performance nor the sillage are on beast mode but it smells very lovely, no sharp citruses but sweet and balanced with the white floral notes then powedered by the musk. The dry-down gets warmer with the ambroxan touch, leans a little woody when the body warms up with that JHAG Dna. I really like it, it's subtle, clean and musky.

Daniela_Beatriz

Like others I too find it veeeeery faint, I thought it was a monomolecule like Not a perfume, so if you like the latter, you would probably like this. I bought in a great deal I could not pass, however I believe it is more of a skin enhancer than a perfume.

Markja

One of the only fragrances I just can’t smell , I get some very very light citrus and wood , I’m just baffled with this , I only had a sample and I thought I’d been ripped of to be honest but after reading some of these reviews it’s a strange frag!!

Erica.Cass

Crips cool fresh light citrus, airy soft musk and subtle woods. Love it. You probably won't smell it but others will. Gentle ladylike airy woody musk. Love it.

LesGirls

I'm completely nose blind to this after fifteen minutes and I'm not even really a huge fan of it, but I get more compliments on this than anything I've worn in recent months.

hellborn_animal

A neroli bomb cut slightly with the citrus and jasmine.
I have a sample and every time I spray neroli I remember why I never do

venusbruises

The performance of this fragrance is admittedly not great but man it smells good. It's a fragrance you can wear when you want to smell good but not super perfume-y. I don't know, this just works so well on my skin chemistry. I need a full bottle.

DaniBear1121

Anyway is a cool, crisp mojito type fragrance with good sillage and longevity. It's not my favorite from this house but citrus-y neroli fragrances are not my favorite. I do love the jasmine in this and the signature woodsy-ambroxan base is lovely. I'd enjoy smelling this on someone else and wear it on a hot summer day for that crispness it offers

EmpressVision

I love the blast of citrus in the opening. 🥰 This smells clean, fresh and sharp without smelling like a laundry sheet. The musk give this a nice twist. This can be worn daily during the spring and summer and you won't offend a soul. ☀️ The sillage is respectable. What makes this frag fabulous is when it's layered with another scent, the projection increases...for example with Montale Crystal Flowers. A stranger commented that I smelled "delightful" the last time I used that combo. You can layer this with practically any other scent to create something magically unique. 👍🏾

8/4/23: Layered this with Kayali Yum Pistachio 33. Like magic, the sweet, creamy deliciousness of Yum Pistachio was elevated & made more present. 🙌🏾🫶🏾

kmyechan

Light, clean citrus and musk. Either I'm going nose blind to this really quickly, or this just lasts minutes on my skin. Pleasant, but so so faint and soft...

realitygreene

I must be a jasmine novice because this scent smells like rose to me. I was going to come to this review and say that this is a rose version of Not a Perfume, but there is no rose listed lol. I can smell the lime, but it's definitely a background character, providing a fresh quality to the jasmine (rose). This is kind of giving me laundry soap vibes, but in a good way. I think I would really like my laundry to smell like this. After about an hour I can make out a little bit of the woody notes. There is enough there to differentiate this fragrance from Musc Invisible and Not a Perfume, both from JHAG. The main difference between Anyway and Musc Invisible is the lime and woodsy notes in Anyway is absent in Musc Invisible and the cotton flower in Musc Invisible is absent in Anyway. They are both so similar though in the impression they give me. Musc Invisible straight up smells like fresh laundry because of the cotton. I think I like the uniqueness of Musc Invisible more than I like Anyway. Even though Anyway is nice, I already own a travel spray of Not a Perfume and plan to purchase a bottle of Glossier You, which Anyway also reminds me of. Not note for note, but in overall impression. Obvious differences in Glossier You: contains pink pepper and iris, no jasmine (or rose 👀) and no lime.

My preferences for these similar fragrances are:

Glossier You > JHAG Not a Perfume ≥ JHAG Anyway > JHAG Musc Invisible

Even though I have ranked Musc Invisible last, it's still unique and the first three are all pretty interchangeable, it just depends on what you want. Iris, nothingness, jasmine (rose!! motherfucker!!) or straight up cotton.

Anyway is aptly named. It's a pleasant enough fragrance that smells good when applied, but you'll promptly move on to the next task and think "Anyway...what was I about to do?" Some people really want that and if you are that person, I suggest giving this fragrance a try. I won't be adding it to my wishlist, but it is one that I would recommend people check out if they want a lowkey fragrance with a clean laundry-adjacent scent.

KymIndigo

Anyway opens with aromatic lime-citrus that feels cool and fresh, like a mojito without the mint, on top of an airy, musked neroli. On dry down the green, musky neroli and tuberose swaps places with the fresh lime, and woody ambroxan enters the scent. It stays this way for the majority of the day.

If you're looking for a light and easy reach during warmer months and are partial to scents like Molecule 01, Anyway is a great contender. Aromatic and airy with some nuances that keep it interesting throughout the day. This one does wear differently on different skin types so I would recommend a full day test wear before committing to a bottle.

Nevertellnevertold

This layered with escentric molecule 01 in summer wow! Everyone was asking me what I’m wearing

*loves_shoes*

The faintest of faint lime, jasmine and a touch of musk.
I can’t smell ambroxan so this a light fragrance that lacks depth to my nose.
What is there is pleasant enough, but just ok, not one I’d buy or keep.
I find almost all JHAG perfumes lack projection, and are very soft unless you completely overspray (and some even then). But this is probably just because my nose can’t smell them properly…
The exception is Not a Perfume which lasts forever and can’t be removed once on.

Kaylovely

Purchase via nose paris.

alex6863

Somehow manages to smell like… the perfume version of air? Pretty meh. Smells like soapy lime and neroli. I don’t hate it by any means, but I’ve had my sample for several years now and still have 50 pct left so clearly this is not a love. I feel like this is a perfume that would appeal to people who don’t particularly like perfume and want something inoffensive. Meanwhile I love perfume and don’t care if I offend anybody.

I don’t find that it veers entirely into detergent territory, but it comes close. If that’s your thing, maybe you’ll like Anyway. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend that you run out and try this. I find it entirely forgettable.

ingeneuxo

-Nondescript citrus musk scent.
-Extremely faint scent that's barely detectable even with your nose pressed to the blotter strip. (-)

Avian

Anyway is a Snow Queen on a Summer vacation. Frigid and aloof, almost sterile, with a strong, icy, green bite. Neroli is ever-present, but it feels glacial and sharp. There's crisp musk, cotton gauze, and JHAG's synthy basenotes, but they're not warm or buttery like they are in their other offerings. Anyway gives the sensation of literally breathing in cold air. Interestingly, Anyway also has a saltiness to it. Not quite like Mugler Cologne-that one smells like a warm body. Anyway seems like salt on a cold margarita glass.

I see a lot of reviews mentioning that Anyway is too weak, but this thing has been going strong for 14 hours now (mostly Neroli, ambroxan, musk, and lime), to the point of being unwelcome! I think some people are inherently anosmic and incapable of smelling certain aroma chemicals in JHAGs, and JHAGs will quickly make you noseblind if you wear them too close to your face. Most JHAGs work nicely on my skin so I suppose skin chemistry also plays a significant role.

Mariyamokshina

Very faint lime and lily . Smells like fresh air and close to Moscow mule but without Ambroxan , very very faint , almost smells like nothing

Eau de Hanneli

Received a sample of this, it instantly takes me back to my high school favourite Impulse Goddess body spray. Anyway is such a striking reminder of that fragrance, something I haven’t smelled since. Albeit this is a more refined version.

equanimiss

Simple clean musky citrus. It’s very nice! I just have too many similar frags to justify a full bottle. Some that come to mind: Escentric 03 (more ginger, lime, vetiver), Jour d’Hermes (more bright yellow expensive flowers), Jardin de Monsieur Li (more bamboo, kumquat, water), Glossier You (more iris, sweeter musk).

I like Anyway, but the above fragrances build on the same base. One thing that stands out about it is a salty note in the first 30 minutes. It’s not listed, so it might just be me. If only this salty note lasted longer or was more forward.

I sprayed once from an atomizer sampler on my forearm and it’s only detectable when I put my nose to my arm. It’s nothing to write home about, but this makes it a safe blind buy for just about anyone.

Kronstadt

Like a beautiful body wash. Quite pleasant, definitely musky, but nothing remarkable. But, absolutely unique. Doesn’t make any sense? I know. But I can’t really put my finger on it. It’s light, clean, fresh, and with a subtle floral musk, which descripes a thousand perfumes, but there is nothing I’ve had my nose on that smells the same. Nothing. The closest I’ve got is a good quality body wash. I wouldn’t dismiss it, especially for an inoffensive work perfume, but I’d sample it first. Just see if you get as perplexed as I do.

Ouch!

Extremely simple hedione and Ambroxan smell. It’s like something molecule would release. Transparent, thin, slightly floral and not worth the price. I’ll pass.

ivadim

Днес за първи път го разносвам, страхотна прилика с Batucada!

TapputiKaputi

Instant synthetic headache. The Ambroxan? The Hedione? Something other? Who knows. Who cares. If you’re sensitive, stay away. To add insult to migraine, there isn’t much of a scent payoff.

kerikatavirag

One of my favourites from JHG, perfect for daywear. It's clean, fresh, works really good on my skin. A bit overpriced IMO, but the quality is great in exchange.

MaquiLab

Anyway is what I'd call a perfume-y perfume. Nothing special, something you'd smell on 5 different women on the bus. It has a certain bitterness to it (the neroli, I suppose) and Ambroxan can be felt 3-5 mins after you spray it on, along with the lime. This is one of the fragrances that get slightly better with time. But generally speaking, it's just... okay.

elledeelee

The smell of warm, scented air emanating from the open door of a high class hair salon as you walk past in the cold. Shampoo, hairspray, and woody 90s vibes, with sweet jasmine, bluebells and clean laundry. Calm, peaceful, gentle, inoffensive but also inviting. Somehow familiar, but at the same time unknowable. A contemporary ballet dancer would wear it. As it dries it becomes soapy then bizarrely I get stale cigarettes, in a really good way. It lasts and projects for about two hours.

handkmommy

I love this. I got some in a swap and this was the first to go. It’s a fresh, comforting scent. Something about it reminds me of something I can’t put my finger on. Something comforting.

Pez_Enelrio

This has very light projection and is not too lasting, leaning slightly masculine or rather boyish...Dominated by citrus. i recommended it to a girl who claimed she does not like perfumes, especially not sweet ones. And she was happy with it.

ViouAmara

Hum. It’s difficult to admit, but on a male skin, this fragrance speaks directly with some of my secret neurons. It simple, bold, warm, clean, minimalist, fragile.
Something from the deep forest.
It makes me instantly melt.
I guess there is no explanation and I should keep this special effect for me lol.

Adrien02

JHAG 'Anyway' and 'Not a Perfume' both give off good vibes. Love the bottle (sucker for packaging, LOL!), but the price can be atrocious. Yes, the ambroxan chemical drives the train here, so much so that the other notes are just bit players. but I have found a suitable substitute from an Ebayer. Now I don't have to use up 'my precious' (in my most convincing Dobby voice).

RedIsDead

Smells familiar, but can't quite place it.

Very simple, clean white floral, but not your typical jasmine or tuberose. Minimalist composition. Reminds me of a beautiful garden with sparkling white flowers and that woody base.

This has made me realise citruses don't show up on my skin at all. I was so surprised looking at the notes haha.

Wouldn't buy a full size, but it's nice. Sillage arm's length then fades quickly to a skin scent.

Gnossiennes

Yah. Whatever.

Beginning with lime, then fresh greenness. With some musk, finally comes the typical basis: ambroxan and hedione.

I mean this is not bad, but could be much better. It just feels like incomplete. (Much) more polish is needed plz!

bintTapputi

Kind of in the line of the Escentric Molecules thing. Very much a 'skin scent'. Pretty sure I don't smell anything at all but the mildest of citrus/musk, but maybe that's just in my head because this is simply the faintest fragrance I've ever tried. 3/10

marsiesmoon

Oohh I really love this one. To me, this is as refreshing as a gin and tonic with lime . On my skin it is a very refreshing citrus/lime, but the musk and ambrox are there in the background just perfectly . Sometimes ambrox/ambroxan is so sharp and just consumes and overshadows the other notes , but not here . This is a " I can't stop sniffing my arm " , perfectly blended fragrance .

Missmel

I really like this this one! Anyway, is so light and refreshing. When I spray it on me the scent gives me a calming, peaceful affect. I highly recommend Anyway if you’re looking for a light, unisex fragrance. My boyfriend loves it so much he also uses it. When I hug him I get gentle whiffs of it and just melt.

cluck1000

Tried this solo and layered over Not A Perfume. The combo w/NAP really brings out something spicy that neither have alone. But solo, Anyway is clean, perfectly blended, and somewhat forgettable.

tessture

I couldn’t smell this much. If I huffed til my nose ached, pressed to the skin, I could sort of smell a woody musk synthetic note. Not bad, but mostly a clean warm smell, like water-scented hand soap. Not worth the time or money, if this is all it is.

Tovah

Light, fresh, citrusy, uplifting...nothing new. I enjoy it very much, but it's not unusual or groundbreaking by any means. It's along the lines of "Not a Perfume", with some lime.

Interesting name - "Anyway" can mean this is designed specifically to be unisex, and it can also be taunting, as PerfumeWhore suggested, "Juliette Has A Gun Anyway".

Romano Ricci is just adorable, *sigh*. If he named his company "Ermintrude Has a Bunion", I'd bat my eyelashes and giggle.

Sophiii

This doesn't smell particularly like a perfume but more as if you just took a shower and you're wearing clean clothes, or it also smells as if you wore a perfume many many hours ago and it has fainted and only a remnant smell is left from it. That's being said I absolutely LOVE IT for the exact same reasons! It's perfect for those days when you don't want to offend anybody with your perfume and you still want to spray something ANYWAY ;)

MadMadamMimm

Very fresh.

Eugenia Olesen

Fragrance for every occasion and situation, airy, not impressive, non offensive, neutral and gentle. Could be usefull if you work in the office, hospital, kindergarden etc. When you don’t know what to wear, or tired of all the gourmand sweet scents out there - this perfume helps out. It’s a pity that the longevity of this is weak. The opening is pleasant, but the lime note dissapeares quickly and than you can hear a sensual, soft almost translucent musk with a hint og woods and jasmin. Breath of freshness in the heat +30C.

sibaraa

Smelled nice on a coworker sweater, decided to get a sample. Pure garbage, very synthetic just like its sister not a perfume. They both give that gaagy feel

GenevaX

This fragrance serves a utilitarian purpose for me: in sweltering heat, it creates the sensation of being cooler, cleaner, and fresher than I am. I've no doubt that there are other scents that could serve the same purpose, but for me, this particular combination of light florals, tart citrus, and sun-dried laundry performs the mental trick of being instantly and deeply cooling: an air-conditioned botanical garden in summer in which every visitor is shower-fresh. In other words, a totally artificial environment, and scent, but one that is satisfying in certain conditions nonetheless.

SebaM83

I really like it... BUT this is so faint I can hardly smell it if i'm not pressing my nose to my skin and sniffing like a crazy guy trying to suck his soul out of his body with the power of his nose.
Anyway is a lovely flower-y / musky / ambroxan scent, but that's about it. There's no "wow factor" about it, but I think that's the point with it: a safe, soft and pleasant scent that no one could be offended by in a million years (because probably no one around you will smell it). So, the downside of the whole thing (if there is a "thing") is that apparently many people (including me) feels almost anosmic to Anyway and others, like Not a Perfume.
Right now I'm looking up JHAG fragrances because I found some of them online at a very reasonable price (100 ml for under $40). Should I?...

Flemeth

Easy, fresh, warm, and office safe - perfect for days when you're not really sure what to wear, yet you feel like wearing something "anyway". I definitely get a lot of ambroxan, some lime, and a beautiful musky neroli. Others have described this as a quiet scent, and I certainly agree.

cedar_lea

This opens with clean musk that quickly gives way to a damp floral blossom. The floral note reminds me more of Olympic Orchards Sacura than any jasmine or neroli scent. It is an interesting dicodimy between the synthetic white noise with a dash of salt musk and the wet and earthy natural smelling floral but the more I sniff the more my head starts to ache. I suspect that this is destined for the swap box, but its interesting enough that I will give it another chance first.

Summer.ladon.smith

This perfume possesses the gentle touch of a newborns hand. Soft and unassuming, with an air of excitement that only comes with innocence.
Starts with a burst of airy citrus with lime leading and neroli close behind. The jasmine effortlessly enters, why the wood notes take it's time and does so modestly. Despite it's simplistic demure, the uniqueness of having Ambroxan and Hedione so predominant as a note keeps it original and in my own opinion the best-crafted perfume of the collection. But that's just my opinion, anyway.
Anyone who is looking for an office scent or wants softer and wetter notes, with the lightness of "Not a perfume" should consider this.

leda_ripa

I don't know if i like or dislike this perfume. It's wearable but one of the notes is really sticking out making it a bit stringent. I usually like soft-fresh scents, but this is more opulent.

Dawnfiller

Citrus perfumes are a favorite so when I saw this Anyway perfume has lime in it I rushed to test it! I love it! Too bad it didn’t last an hour on me or I would buy a full size bottle!

This is a skin scent on me from the start. Refreshing opening of lime that quickly faded into a floral musk aroma. I had a slight headache wearing it. (I don’t like musk usually.)

I bought a discovery set from Sephora with 8 perfumes to sample. I really enjoyed this one while it lasted. I recommend buying this sample set to test their perfumes.

LateBloomer

This fragrance is my favorite out of the Juliette Has a Gun Discovery Kit. Light, fresh, citrusy...really nice for daytime and outdoor activities (I'm thinking of my kids' soccer games). On my skin the lime stays front and center, just softening a bit after the drydown, then I detect a bit of sweetness (maybe floral? My nose is not advanced), but it is mostly citrus for the duration. Unfortunately, the longevity of Anyway is the worst of the perfumes in the kit, but I might be ok with reapplying it - I think it would feel refreshing in the heat of a summer day.

Virginnose

My first JHAG scent and even a blind buy. I loved it and wore it for a long time. Now I detect on my children’s skin. Somehow they seek that first mummy smell. So I am much appreciative cause it lead me to the rest of the JHAG family.

thethe

Reminds me of bulgari aqva amara only without the mandarin note...if you can imagine it.

Vegas Pauli

Its interesting how JHAG markets their other neroli scent Gentlewoman for women and Anyway as unisex, but I find this one way more feminine. The lime takes this neroli scent in a very different direction. Anyway is fresh and light but in an Egyptian cotton, freshly washed linen kind of way. Soft, subtle, light and soapy, this is really nice. Non offensive but quietly interesting at the same time. I'm just getting into JHAG's fragrances and so far I impressed with their offerings. Thumbs up.

Sighclone

Though it's still mid winter, the mercury reached just under 70° in NYC today, so I decided to reach for Anyway, one of JHAG's warm weather freshies.

Anyway is not your typical freshy. It is so quirky and whimsical that the mere wearing of it serves to redefine one's concept of what a freshy ought to be.

It opens with the most gorgeous lime note you can imagine. Lime can be very in your face due to its sharpness. This one manages to paradoxically be in your face and muted simultaneously. You can thank the artfully blended basenotes for this, as they take the edge off the lime and make it so playful and happy and beautiful, that they transform it to something else while still retaining the basic essence of the familiar fruit.

The neroli, while noticeable in the opening, disappears quickly, but the lime lasts throughout the wearing.

The jasmine enters about twenty minutes into the spraying and turns what you think is a citrus into a definite citrus/floral. This combination is heavenly.

When the hedione kicks in it doubles down on the jasmine floral effect, as hedione can often resemble jasmine.

What you have when the drydown is in full bloom is a musky floral citrus that is as much of a crowd pleaser as any safe office scent you can think of, yet it has niche quality ingredients going for it.

Anyway is truly a citrus freshy reimagined. Doesn't just take it to the next level, it takes it to the ni plus ultra of what a citrus floral can be.

Sirena78

Did not like this one. The opening is quite masculine then turned into some weird type of herbal floral jumble I couldn't really identify that was a bit headache inducing for me. Dry down was strong and not bad per say, just not something I'd want to smell like. Reminded me of a household cleaner of some sort. I initially thought I might give this to my husband to try because the opening was masculine and quite nice but middle and dry down on me were not so good. ( Scent was detectable for several hours.) While it's not terrible and I have definitely smelled worse this JHAG is a no go for me.

CasuallyFragrant

Anyway...

The most neutral I have felt about a fragrance. It’s not good, it’s not bad. It’s just a neutral scent. It’s something I’ll forget. Nothing special to make this stand apart. I don’t dislike it either, nothing offensive to me. Just a simple scent, which isn’t what I’m after in a fragrance.

Skayalily

I get an immediate red bumpy skin rash if I spray this on my skin. The opening burst is a strong lime, reminiscent of household cleaners and then nothing. Anosmia and allergy(intolerance) tend to go hand in hand for me, so whatever is making my skin react; I probably also can't smell it.
Anyway, (haha)
After awhile, right at the skin, I get a slightly woodsy scent. Fresh and clean with a chlorinated vibe. Almost like right after getting out of a pool. It never projects off the skin to my nose and lasts 2-3 hours.

_christine_

Whatever.

Smells very synthetic. Sort of a mishmash of Frebreez, toilet bowl cleaner and rubbing alcohol.

This was a scrubber for me.

O_o

I have it and use it for a long time so i have to say this one not so simple. At the first time i don't like it much but after regular using i understand it and i love it. It is light and gentle scent of so well blended floral-woody-musky-poudry notes. I always associated it with paper - white, dry, fresh smell. Anyway how it named.

Konga5000

#3 in the boxed set of samples. This is the most faceless one thus far. Dry down is that cheap ambroxan that us in 500 other scents that begin with "Our Impression Of". This has to be the worst one so far?

scatterheart

It smells like a worse Un Jardin Sur le Nil (less complex, more alcohol-y, more fleeting sillage) at a higher price. A lime citrus fades down into a faint Ambroxan nothingness. Blerp.

curlykitty8

Anyway promised to be so much that I tend to love in a fragrance but sadly it fell very short of my expectations as I could barely smell it and only now and then did I enjoy a faint waft of its pallid loveliness.
Oh well...anyway...

onaona

Floral Woody Musk?
No
Ambroxan Citrusy Musk?
Yes!

Surprisingly, I like it. I don't love it, as I do many offerings from JHaG. It's neither my favorite from the house nor one I would suggest avoiding. I don't find it floral or woody. I don't find it comfortable or inviting. It's gender neutral, so neither feminine or masculine (to me). I wouldn't call it intentionally innovative nor is it typical of today's market.

Apparently I don't know what it is besides abroxan, citrus and musk. Maybe nothing...and yet, SOMETHING that appeals.

I think shockingly it's the ambroxan. It's a note I seem to smell differently than almost everyone else. Usually that means not in a good way. I'm not overly drawn to citrus fragrances, but the strong lime may be just sharp enough to encourage this composition to play nice with my nose. I do still find abroxan strongly ink like, but paired here with such an outspoken lime, it presents more as a mixed Mohito (yes, the drink) than its normal copy machine toner self.

I do periodically enjoy a well made mohito. Even on my skin.

Antonia99

What I wear when I have a migraine. Light clean citrus with a touch of musk and wood. No strong florals to hurt my head.

Jillzilla

More like citrus and clean musk at the start, but then quickly morphs into sharp and bitter green citrus rind, sheer jasmine-like florals, tea, woodsiness and some celery salt nuances....in other words, from what I understand, the hedione note seems to be most dominant on my skin. It's kind of fresh and clean, but sharp on me, and the combination of aromas I'm getting is not exactly pleasant on my chemistry. It seems like it would be a skin scent, because it is sheer, but I keep getting wafts of it and can't seem to get away from it. It radiates, but it doesn't have any warmth on me.

I am going to try layering it to see how Anyway influences other scents on my skin.

Camilla91

I wonder if anyone else has the same problem as me with this scent - I can barely smell it while spraying but I can smell it on my clothes weeks after. In my opinion this one smells very clean and fresh so it would be a perfect scent for office/school.

Neosmiaphyte

Heavily wooded bergamot musk, then limey amber white floral. Ambroxan finish. Leans strongly masculine.

glitchdoll

LOVE this scent. I just wish it actually lasted longer than half an hour...

mirrorghost

yeah, "anyway" is kind of how i'm feeling about this scent. it starts with a very synthetic citrus blast that seems sort of light and empty. then i get white florals and a chemical element. empty. that word just keeps coming to mind.

Duskfall

I didn't expect much from this one, but I was pleasantly surprised! This is a soft musky citrus; both fresh and soothing. It reminds me of DKNY Women, but without that "I'll just shove this ice pick into your brain through your nostril" kind of sharpness. Anyway isn't a groundbreaking fragrance by any measure, but it's a solid choice for summer (or basically any occasion that calls for something nice and uncomplicated).

Performance is allright for this kind of scent: I get approx. 5 hours with soft to moderate projection. All things considered, Anyway is very likeable, but unfortunately it isn't distinctive enough to justify the price tag.

Cauda Pavonis

Light, citrusy fruity floral. Another pretty, inoffensive offering from JHaG. My overwhelming impression of this is of expensive laundry detergent. Mild, clean (the very definition of clean); all treble, no bass. Tiny sillage. I'm starting to give up on this house but I have an entire discovery kit to go through. Hopefully I'll find something in here that's interesting.

Museumgal

Refreshing lime but very faint and delicate floral. Just a bit of warmth from the Amber. It is lovely but a bit too delicate for the price tag. It doesn't last long and doesn't have much sillage. Disappointing, the notes look so beautiful!

Rissatish

Very faint fresh lime and herbal scent. It would be make a nice room spray, it's just far too subtle.

EmiliM

Light, sunny, bubbly, casual, minimalistic, fun, citrusy, airy, soapy, tingly, fresh, nonchalant, zesty, easy, musky, cute, young, synthetic, casual, fuzzy, androgynous, white...

...and everything opposite of what I'm looking for in a perfume.

That said, I find it hard to say anything bad about any of Juliette's guns. The quality and originality are once again great. They certainly know how to develop a concept, it's just that this particular concept is not my cup of tea.
For me, Anyway, Not a Perfume and Gentlewoman are a trilogy. All three of them are white and clean and classy in a similar way.
Gentlewoman could be Juliette at work, Not a Perfume could be Juliette fresh out of the shower and Anyway could be weekend Juliette, having fun and drinking Fanta Shokata.
To my nose, Anyway smells exactly like Fanta Shokata and there isn't much more I can say about it.

Overall, although it's not my style, I think there's a place on the market for Anyway. If you want to smell like soda pop, it doesn't get much better than this.

littlepepperz

Wow, Anyway is taking a beating left and right!

I am puzzled by the reviews and the only thing that comes to mind is that it just simply smells different to everybody, some are anosmic to it, some are not.

To me it smells GREAT. It's a fantastic scent, that has very little to do with your typical colognes or citrus-unisex scents. This citrus is so round, fuzzy, as if limes were turned into soft, fluffy balls, drenched in neroli petals, jasmine butter and amber. It's a very warm scent, all of the notes blend together very well, creating a radiant, fresh, almost tropical aura. No sharp edges here.

This brand is probably defined by their strong, full on diva scents, like Lady Vengeance, Citizen Queen, Mad Madame, Midnight Oud and fans of JHAG coming from those scents really dislike the fresher, lighter creations. But looking at what this house has to offer, nearly half of the scents are in the likes of Anyway (Not a Perfume, Gentlewoman, Romantina, Miss Charming) and I hope they don't stop making them!

gooberskitty21

This smells like sweetly scented nothing, not sure how else to describe it. Like "Not a Perfume", I'm pretty sure the intended marketing demographic for this JHAG release are deep pocketed folks who're "allergic" to everything but the scent of B/O. But hey, to each their own, I guess. The name's definitely fitting, made me shrug on contact and failed to inspire a like or dislike either way. I would've called it "Meh".

HanamiTsukimi

This starts out as a lovely, super gentle lime scent that's nice but not world-rocking. After a while, it's hard to smell anything apart from the effects of the ambroxan. I'm left with a synthetic sweetness as mild and vague as its name. It's a very light skin scent, and at this price point it isn't worth it for me.

misslawbore

Quite interesting at the start, but it fades quickly and I don't want to reapply

Pianomelody

Love this! Really beautiful !!! stands out from all others .. it is simple, clean, crystal clear... but at the same time 'electric' and sparkling'! Right from the start it was love, just because I feel it only.. I never heard a scent so!! For me it is a caress, a weak wind that caresses the skin in the days of spring .. but at the same time can 'Rock and energetic'! ^^ This is a complex perfume in its simplicity, not all in my opinion ... Delicate and completely Unisex! All notes harmonize perfectly .. Unfortunately the projection is very soft light, but longevity is good (about 7-8 hours). Definitely I will buy this beautiful parfum! Really it deserves to get in my collection! :).❤ ✌ Love it!

ScarlettX

A nice calm fragrance. I really enjoy ambroxan note in perfumes. This one reminds me of Not A Perfume by Juliette Has A Gun, which I love.
I am impressed, it's unisex fragrance. I consider it tender and feminine. Many women's perfumes are more masculine than this one.
It is very lovely, but it's not a statement fragrance. Smells comfortable, peaceful, happy and homely.

pi^2

It is an unsual scent, fresh, clean, unisex and slightly warm. The flowers and citrus are very light. As mentioned in other reviews, ANYWAY has a somewhat metalic smell, which reminds me of a mechanics workshop. I know some people won't find this image attractice, but to me it is a very nice scent. Another thing that comes to my mind which may sound more appealing is a playgroud. Its unsiex innocence makes me think of boys and girls playing together (though it is in no way childish). It is the smell of swings, ladders and slides, with a hint of slightly damp sand in the late afternoon.

As for performance, it is a strange combination of good longevity with little to no projection. Considering how pricey it is, I would hope for something a little less subtle. But then again, we always complain we can never finish our bottles, so here's one I'll have to spray a lot if I want to be able to smell it.

Jtay

Starts off a bit boring and bland (soapy), but if you have some patience it develops an interesting and not unappealing metallic smell that sticks around for quite some time. I don't care for it personally, it's just not "me", but it is certainly interesting and for the right person could be a great, unique signature scent.

Gwizz

I'm not entirely sure where all the venom and vitriol for this fragrance comes from. I'm my opinion, this is simply a lovely, light, woody, citrus on a bed of musk and ambroxan that provides the perfect foil for all the typical citrus and aquatic warm weather fragrances out there.

It opens with lime and neroli, which I love, and slowly introduces a subtle jasmine note. It's a white floral indeed, but the woody, white musk base, complimented by ambroxan, takes it out of typical white flower territory and into something more intriguing. If you think this just smells like ambroxan alone, then you either haven't smelled this scent, haven't smelled ambroxan or you have a bad cold! Comparisons with Molecule 02 are valid, but overstated. This has more presence, more throw and lasts longer, as well as being more neroli slanted. I'm sure many of the JHAG scents get tarred with the Not A Perfume brush, because that one was just an easy target. But Anything has nothing to do with NAP other than the brand name.

Questions of longevity for this fragrance are puzzling. I've no doubt it lasts longer on some people than on others. I'm lucky, I get at least 6hrs from this before I need to reapply. But aren't these longevity issues true of many fragrances that have a citrus bent? As I said earlier, this is in no way your typical citrus though and as such, I think the musk/wood base actually improves it's staying power. As for silage, it certainly doesn't envelope you in an obnoxious stink cloud that frightens off the humans (thankfully)! Instead it provides a polite, muted arms length aura that is extremely pleasant in my book.

If you're after something a bit different to the run of the mill warmer weather scents, I'd say definitely don't be afraid to give JHAG Anything a try. It would certainly wear well in cooler weather as well, but for me, it's a spring/summer go to. It's perfectly unisex, reasonably priced, beautifully packaged and performs well, despite what some of the nay sayers might have you believe. A thumbs up from me!

Ruffienne

Very poor sillage and longevity, but a lovely little fragrance while it lasts.

A little ambroxan (Hello there, younger cousin of Not A Perfume!) and a little neroli and maybe a very little musk in a sweet and unassuming fragrance that is gone in too few minutes.

Clean and modest and transient.

I realise I have just said the same thing in three different ways... but honestly, that's all there is...

zohaib248

My 'straight after the shower' scent. Fresh & Clean..I kinda like it's minimal qualities...

smalltownbeatnik

Lucky Scents says, "Just 15 ingredients, going right back to basics, only keeping the best. A blend of musks, woods and citrus notes come together in a bright, subtle and persistent trail." And they're right. It's lovely. But unfortunately, I can't smell much of the lovely. Frankly, I fear it's not distinctive or special enough to warrant paying this much for such a soft, barely there, skin scent.

CosmeHaul

This is a scent of many firsts for me, and--pun intended--it's blown away many of my notions of fresh, woodsy, unisex fragrances. My chemistry tends not to like them, and there's never been anything appealing to me about smelling "like a guy" or sharing the same fragrance with my guy.

This is also the first Juliette Has A Gun fragrance that actually smells good to me. The others I've tried either didn't smell nice, or they made me nauseous, or gave me a migraine. Anyway is so different from them!

On me, Anyway is a nice juxtaposition of fresh and citrusy mixed with musk and and old-library leather. Then throw in a little moss, plus enough jasmine to make it not the least bit "masculine" smelling on me. To the contrary--it comes off as soft and light, and even pretty.

This is what, in my imagination, Chanel no 5 should have smelled like on me, but doesn't. Unfortunately, my body chemistry hates Chanel no. 5. But it loves Anyway!

If you think you don't like or can't wear woodsy, green, or "unisex" fragrances, this may surprise you, as it did me.

chanceuxlilas

Upon first wearing of this fragrance I thought I was smelling pear, lime and jasmine. After reading up on the notes I was definitely surprised to see that there's no pear but ambroxan in the list of notes. I am familiar with Molecule 01 (with MAJOR ambroxan in it) & don't think that these fragrances have anything in common. ANYWAY smells good, smells pretty but lasts on my skin for only about an hour :( And for that it's definitely not worthy of its' price tag--it is after all a niche fragrance.

gaai

I love this. It's fresh, clean and perfect for summer days.
The lime hits me first, but mellows out quickly and then it just becomes a softly clean skin scent. Not too overpowering, but definitely there.
I can detect the neroli, but it doesn't assert itself very much. The ambroxan rounds it all out....
Like I said: I love this and will get a full bottle of it asap. I could see this becoming my signature scent.

genny17

I agree it is a soft ,clean, a bit soapy musk scent...very light, rather unimpressive also ...I get a bit of an herbal vibe also...I find it more feminine but it borders on unisex, I think if you like minimalist fragrances, or looking for a clean clear scent for summer,Anyway would work..
I find it too light really, and a bit herbal for my taste..It is nice, but I am not overly impressed by it...it smells like nothing after a mere 15 mn!!

alepoz84

Or finally have a perfume that smells clean, I tried it the first time and I have not dwelt in understand it, I had in mind other scents to own, rather then trying sniffing hit me, The thing that impressed me the most 'and' like this scent has the power to change and amplify when used as a base for other scents, I tried it with black and Acampora, slut xxxx, that splendor.
That said, and 'one of those scents that I can not understand, probably' cause I'm not a Nose! But I like it and I bought! Price in Italy 50 ml 60/70 € 100ml 95/104 €.

Voto????? 8 /10

jaylim87

I love this one.
I want to describe this fragrance as quiet but powerful. It's very warm and clean, this won't be loud at all but it lasts nearly whole day. For me this is one of the few that stays on my skin for more than 12 hours.
One of the best fragrances I bought recently.

brightstar

I received a free sample when this fragrance was launched. I don't like most of JHAG's perfumes, (maybe because I'm not a big fan of rose) but Anyway is my second favourite after Calamity J. It's clean and citrusy, kind of a soapy but warm. Perfect for spring-summer days and nights. Don't get me wrong, it's not a rich scent, it's minimalist and pretty cheap but in a funny way. Worth a try.

Sandra2

....anyway, I think it's beautiful in its simplicity.

alfarom

Ambroxan. Period. If you're already familiar with *Not A Perfume*, Molecule 02 or Diptyque L'Eau Mage, you won't need this.

I think it would have probably be better named as *Whatever*.

I'll stick to L'Eau Mage.

qatarkind

It's too soft

ginger68

What a beautiful work! It is dry, unisex. I agree with mudpach. It is a really surprising smell. The bottle is beautiful. I think that is is a very elegant fragrance, perfect for many occasions and for daily use.

mudpach

Yes, monsieur Ricci did it again! Minimalist masterpiece that really love to wear. Very soft, dry and warm woody-musk scent with a great sillage. In my opinion it is perfect for woman and men also.
Thank you, dear M. Ricci, you could create my next JHG fave.

Houdini4

Tried this on a card at first and quite literally couldn't smell it. The Lady was trying to convince me it smelled like snow...hmmmm...I think she's heard too much marketing bullshit and it's poisoned her mind!
To me it smells exactly, exactly like my mum used to when i was a child, after a bubble bath (not in a weird way) on a Sunday night and I'd give her a hug before I went to bed...so it conjures a comforting vibe.
Powdery, soft and lovely on the skin really clean. The neroli is present but not at all massively floral it's an obscure, beguiling, mutated mixture. Not sure what the molecules bring to the party but it certainly has good longevity for something so subtle and slight.
A bit feminine but fresh and I would wear it.

Update: Ah ha it's Ambroxan doesn't smell typical to me I'd assumed it was some obscure molecule. I bought this shortly after my review(I've barely worn it in truth) but I love it! What a wonderful take on minimal construction...And this is a real strange one for me as I adore deep dark woods, resins and incense this couldn't be further from JHG Anyway. It's just great!

querelle

Tried it today but I'm so sorry to say that I'm completely anosmic to it. I applied 3 heavy sprays and all I could get was a faint woody ambroxan odour which reminded me of 90's hairspray. And then nothing.. Maybe it's me but I do believe that mr Geza does it a bit better with those eccentric molecules. I'll give it another try.
